Frequently Asked Questions

What is the wave equation GCSE Physics?

Wave speed = frequency × wavelength (v = fλ). Also: wave speed = distance ÷ time. Frequency is measured in Hz, wavelength in metres, speed in m/s.

What is the difference between transverse and longitudinal waves?

Transverse: oscillations perpendicular to direction of energy transfer (EM waves, water waves, S-waves). Longitudinal: oscillations parallel to direction (sound waves, P-waves). Only transverse can be polarised.

What is the EM spectrum order GCSE?

From longest to shortest wavelength: Radio waves, Microwaves, Infrared, Visible light, Ultraviolet, X-rays, Gamma rays. Remember: Raging Martians Invaded Venus Using X-ray Guns.

Is the eye and lenses content Triple Science?

Yes, detailed eye structure and lens calculations (magnification, focal length) are Triple Science only. Combined Science covers basic wave properties and EM spectrum.
